Federal 6.5 Creedmoor +Peak wins “Ammo of the Year”
Guns & Ammo has named Federal 6.5 Creedmoor +Peak its 2026 “Ammo of the Year.” Federal announced the award on 22 October; 7mm Backcountry, using the same case technology, received the award in 2025.
Guns & Ammo has named Federal 6.5 Creedmoor +Peak its 2026 “Ammo of the Year.” Federal announced the award on 22 October; 7mm Backcountry, using the same case technology, received the award in 2025.
The +Peak version uses a special steel alloy case and operates at higher pressure than conventional 6.5 Creedmoor. An important qualification: Federal’s current FAQ directs users to their firearm manufacturer regarding compatibility. CVA Scout, Hunter and Apex break-action models are expressly excluded.
Federal is represented in the German market through Helmut Hofmann. This does not confirm German availability of the +Peak version. This news concerns the award, not blanket approval for existing rifles.
