What are adjustment range, repeatability and zero stop?

Adjustment range describes how far an adjustment travels between its two limits. The total range stated in a data sheet is not available in both directions from every starting position. Think of a slider: when it is near one end, less travel remains in that direction.

Two other terms help with comparisons. Adjustment accuracy means that the actual change matches the stated change. Repeatability means that a previously used position can be reached again reliably. Distinct, tactile clicks alone do not tell you how accurately either of these requirements is met.

A zero stop limits the return movement at a specified position. A lock serves a different purpose: it is intended to prevent unintended changes. A revolution indicator shows which part of the adjustment range is in use. These functions should be considered separately. Similar-sounding product names do not automatically describe the same technical solution.
