What does inclination in a riflescope mount mean?

Inclination means that a rail or mount provides a fixed angle along its length. It is a feature of its geometry. For example, 20 MOA / 5.8178 MRAD describe the same angle in two units. The decimal places result from conversion; they do not describe manufacturing tolerances.

Inclination is different from mount height. Height is a length measured in millimetres; inclination is an angle. Both must also be distinguished from sideways cant. To make specifications comparable, a data sheet needs to explain between which surfaces or axes the measurement is taken.

A particular inclination does not, by itself, tell you whether a mount suits a rifle-and-scope combination. Other dimensions and approved interfaces also matter. A seemingly suitable tube diameter is not enough. This explanation helps you read product data. Installation and functional checks belong in competent hands and should follow the instructions of the manufacturers involved.
