How does long-range benchrest differ from other disciplines?
Benchrest is shot from a bench using approved rests. Depending on the competition, scoring is based on group size, scoring rings or both. This distinguishes benchrest from F-Class as well as competitions with changing tasks.

The American NBRSA’s long-range formats include 548.6 m / 600 yrd and 914.4 m / 1,000 yrd. The metric figures are converted from the original yard distances; the first is rounded. Thus 548.6 m / 600 yrd is not the same distance as 600 m / 656.2 yrd.
Understanding a result means understanding its scoring system. A small group and a high ring score describe different things. Class, number of strings and official measurement rules must also match for a fair comparison. Benchrest places great emphasis on consistent results and precise assessment. Even so, a good performance cannot be transferred directly to a differently structured discipline.
