Bavaria's Bürgerallianz is contributing a position paper dated 14 October 2026 to the review of German firearms law. According to the VDB report of 23 October, 25 associations and clubs representing more than 2.2 million members support the demands. They include the Bavarian hunting association and the Bavarian sport shooting federation.
The alliance calls for a clearer distinction between lawful firearms ownership and gun crime, less administration and more consistent enforcement. Existing burdens should require stronger justification. It rejects compulsory psychological assessments without specific cause and calls for early participation by affected associations.
The VDB welcomes the initiative and sees common ground with its own proposals. For hunters and sport shooters, this is a new contribution to the political debate. The paper presents associations' demands; it is neither enacted legislation nor a change already in force.
