Firearms policy: VDB and Rhineland-Palatinate hunting association discuss shared positions
The ongoing review of firearms law was central to a meeting in Gensingen. VDB reports common concerns.

Representatives of the German gunsmiths and firearms retailers association VDB and the Rhineland-Palatinate hunting association met in Gensingen on 14 October 2026 to discuss firearms policy. VDB published its account on 19 October.
VDB vice-president Frank Satzinger and public affairs representative Peter Braß met hunting association president Dr Gitta Greif-Werner, vice-president Bernd Bahr and office manager Frederik Grüneberg.
According to VDB, the associations shared several concerns about the ongoing review of firearms law. These included proportionate, practical rules without unnecessary burdens on law-abiding firearms owners, and a clear distinction between lawful and unlawful possession.
The report describes an exchange of association positions. It identifies no adopted legislation, new deadlines or concrete changes for firearms owners. It does not publish a joint action plan.
